How to clear your browser's cache

Your browser keeps a temporary copy of nearly everything it downloads, in case it is needed again. This speeds up surfing, but sometimes you want to get rid of all of these old items to ensure you are getting the latest information.

Internet Explorer 6.0

  1. For best results, please close all instances of your browser and go to your Windows Desktop.
  2. Go to the Windows Control Panel and choose Internet Options. If you are in the Category View, choose Network and Internet Connections, and then Internet Options.
  3. On the General tab in the Temporary Internet files section, make sure the cache is not set too high by clicking the Settings... button. The Amount of disk space to use should be set no higher than 100MB if you are using a modem, or 25MB if you have a high-speed Internet connection. Click OK to exit the Settings window.
  4. Next, click the Delete Files... button, and click OK (don't worry about the Delete all offline content checkbox).
  5. Last, click the Delete Cookies... button, and click OK.
  6. Click OK to exit from the Internet Options window.

Internet Explorer 7.0

  1. For best results, please close all instances of your browser and go to your Windows Desktop.

  4. Next, click the Delete... button.
  5. In the Temporary Internet Files section, click the Delete files... button, and then click Yes.
  6. In the Cookies section, click the Delete Cookies... button, and then click Yes.
  7. Click Close to close the Delete Browsing History window.
  8. Click OK to close the Internet Properties window.

Mozilla Firefox 1.5

  1. Go to Tools and choose Options...
  2. Choose the Privacy option.
  3. On the Cache tab, click the Clear Cache Now button.
  4. On the Cookies tab, click the Clear Cookies Now button.
  5. Click OK to exit from the Options window.

Mozilla Firefox 2.0

  1. Go to the Tools menu and choose Options...
  2. Choose the Privacy option.
  3. In the Private Data section, choose the Clear Now... button.
  4. In the Clear Private Data window, place a checkmark in the Cache option, and click the Clear Private Data Now button.
  5. In the Cookies section, click the Show Cookies... button.
  6. Find any cookies named stcu.org, www.stcu.org, netteller.stcu.org, and/or secure.stcu.org, click to highlight them, and then click the Remove Cookies button. Click the Close button to close the Cookies window.
  7. Click OK to close the Options window.

Netscape 7.2

  1. Go to the Edit menu and click Preferences...
  2. Click to expand the Advanced section.
  3. Click the Cache option, and then click the Clear Cache button.
  4. Click OK to close the Preferences window.

Netscape 8.0

  1. Go to the Tools menu and click Options...
  2. Click the Privacy option in the left menu.
  3. Click the Clear button to the right of the Cache option, and then click OK to delete Cache.
  4. Click the Clear button to the right of the Cookies option, and then click OK to delete Cookies.
  5. Click OK to close the Options window.

Opera 8.5

  1. Go to the Tools menu and click Preferences...
  2. Under the Advanced tab, click the History option in the left menu.
  3. Click the Empty now button to the right of the Disk cache option.
  4. Click the Cookies option in the left menu, and then click the Manage cookies... button.
  5. In the Server manager window, find any cookies named stcu.org, www.stcu.org, netteller.stcu.org, and/or secure.stcu.org, click to highlight them, and then click the Delete button. Click the Close button to close the Server manager window.
  6. Click OK to close the Preferences window.
