STCU's community involvement

STCU does more than take deposits and make loans. We reach out to the community with strategic gifts that support local arts and culture, schools, and fundraising efforts for important causes consistent with the mission and purpose of the credit union.

STCU’s community investment program provides financial, in-kind, and volunteer support to non-profit organizations which serve communities and citizens in Washington and North Idaho.

Our giving focuses on programs and events that seek to strengthen communities in the following areas:

• Education – We support programs that create opportunities for youth that inspire them to reach their full potential and enhance their educational experience. And, of course, we like to be involved in efforts that promote financial education.
• Arts and culture – We support local organizations that promote creativity and celebrate diversity and culture.
• Community – With particular focus on youth and families, our contributions are made to organizations that promote stability in our community.

Eligibility
The following factors are considered in determining eligibility of an organization or program for funding by STCU:

• 501(c)(3) tax exempt status
• Impact aligned with STCU’s giving focus areas
• Benefit communities and citizens in geographic areas served by STCU (Eastern Washington and North Idaho)

We generally don’t give to individuals, trips, sports teams, or causes that are religious or political in nature.

How to apply
After reviewing the eligibility guidelines, please send us the following information 60-90 days in advance:

• Contact information, including name, mailing address and phone number(s).
• The name of the registered non-profit organization making the request.
• Information about the cause or event, including any pertinent dates, locations, number of people served, etc.
• Specific request (optional levels of support, volunteers, etc.)

You will receive a written response to your inquiry within 45 days.
