About the president: Steven L. Dahlstrom is the president and chief executive officer of Spokane Teachers Credit Union (STCU) based in Spokane, Wash.

Dahlstrom currently serves as chair of the Financial Services Centers Cooperative Inc. Board of Directors; member of the Educational Credit Union Council Board of Directors; vice chair of the Eastern Washington University Foundation Board of Directors; member of the Spokane Workforce Development Council; member of the Greater Spokane Incorporated Board of Directors; and member of the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture Board of Directors. He is also the president of CU Alliance Inc. which serves Spokane and the credit union community. He is a graduate of the University of Montana and earned his MBA from Eastern Washington University.

Dahlstrom began his career in the credit union industry in 1978 at Missoula Federal Credit Union. Having just graduated from college, he was thrust into the manager's position within three months and helped the struggling credit union overcome a difficult time. After two years, he moved to Spokane and accepted a position as senior vice president at STCU, a position he held until 1991 when he was named CEO.

Under Dahlstrom's leadership, Spokane Teachers has grown in assets from $20 million in 1980 to more than $1.1 billion, making STCU the largest credit union in Eastern Washington. Organized in 1934, STCU currently serves 78,000 members.
