Fans choose Washington Basset Rescue to receive $1,000 donation

Bassets in the Inland Northwest will be wagging their tails and drooling with delight, knowing that Washington Basset Rescue (WABR), a non-profit organization that specializes in the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of unwanted basset hounds, is the recipient of a $1,000 donation from STCU. A total of 1,764 people voted for a local non-profit to receive this donation as part of STCU's "Who do you love?" giving program on Facebook.

WABR received 759 votes, pulling ahead by a nose, with the Spokane Humane Society rallying 725 votes. The two organizations were on each other's tails during the voting period from February 28 through March 11.

A total of 85 nonprofit organizations were nominated between February 14 and 25. The five organizations that received the most nominations were: Washington Basset Rescue, Spokane Humane Society, OutSpokane, Women's & Children's Free Restaurants and Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington & Northern Idaho.
