Include STCU in your travel preparations

We can save you lots of headaches if we know your plans

[June 8, 2009]

Make reservations… Find a dog-sitter… Stop the mail… Get someone to mow the lawn.

There are lots of details to remember when you’re getting ready to travel. And here’s an important one: Call STCU.

Your credit and debit cards are monitored for fraud, and it’s going to raise red flags if we suddenly start seeing charges at the Southgate Mall in Missoula, Scuba-Do Dive in Key Largo, or Davy Byrnes Pub in Dublin.

And sometimes, when there’s a spike in fraud, we are forced to block credit card use for brief periods in certain states, cities or countries. But for you, we can make an exception.

When you call, we’ll want to know where you’re going and the dates of your trip. We’ll want to make sure we have a phone number where you can be reached, even while you’re out of town. And we’ll want to wish you happy travels.

Click here for detailed information about traveling with your STCU Visa® credit and debit cards. And no matter what card you carry, keep these travel tips in mind:

  • Carry more than one credit card.
  • Carry a debit card so you can get cash if you need it.
  • Take along the disclosure form that came with your credit card. While it looks like nothing but legalese, it’s actually chock full of information that can help get you out of card-related jams. (Copies for STCU-issued cards are available at each of our branches and online by clicking on the appropriate card from the list in the right-hand column. Or give us a call, and we’ll send you one.)
  • Keep Visa’s emergency number handy. It’s 1-800-VISA-911 (1-800-847-2911) for calls made in the United States; or 0-410-581-9994 for international calls.
  • Pack your shoes last, with the soles facing Heaven. That has nothing to do with credit cards, but it’ll keep your shirts clean.
