Member security just got better at STCU, with installation of eye-level security cameras at teller stations in many branch locations.
The dark, domed cameras are bolted at each station to capture a clear, unobstructed image of anyone seeking teller assistance. Many people will not notice the small cameras, but crooks know that there's no way to shield your face from identification.
"Providing safe, member security is a high priority at STCU," says Craig Brenden, STCU's fraud prevention officer. "The investment in silent, passive security is a powerful deterrent to identity theft and other crimes. It will make every branch safer for employees and members."
Brenden says the STCU teller cameras make it difficult for criminals to hide behind hats and high collars when forging a check and using someone else's identity. Even if a crook attempts to obstruct the camera, his or her photograph has already been taken.In addition, other cameras are positioned throughout the credit union to capture images of visitors that can be used by authorities to quickly identify a robber or identity thief.
