Three times in the past year, STCU has asked community members, "Who do you love?" Their votes sent credit union donations to seven organizations that help make the Inland Northwest a great place to live.
Now, with 2011 drawing to a close, we put the question to our employees: "Who do YOU love?" We asked them to select recipients for end-of-year contributions in our three areas of giving: education; arts and culture; and community. Our 466 employees nominated more than 80 organizations. The three receiving the most votes will be surprised this week with $1,500 checks delivered by STCU employees:
The credit union had previously given a total of $6,000 to seven organizations selected by community members at meetings of Greater Spokane Incorporated, the Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce, and on our Facebook site.
Previous recipients were: Second Harvest Food Bank; Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery; Excel of North Idaho; North Idaho Violence Prevention Center; Meals on Wheels; Spokane Valley Partners; and Washington Basset Rescue.
Founded by educators in 1934, STCU is a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative with 100,000 members and more than $1.5 billion in total assets. STCU has 15 branches in Eastern Washington and North Idaho, including our South Valley Branch, which opened December 12.
