Make saving money fun

Kids learn to take charge of money with a Money JarRemember how much fun it was to have your own money when you were a kid? Sure, you had to walk uphill to school both ways in a blizzard, but you probably had a little spending money to splurge on candy, toys, or movies. As you got older, the goals (and toys) got bigger and more expensive, right?

Helping your kids create a strategy on how to save and where to allocate their money will have a positive impact in reaching their goals. The STCU Money Jar shows kids how to stash money away for three different goals at the same time.

How it works

Kids decide how much of their money they want to save, spend, or share with others. One slot on the Money Jar is for money your child wants to spend. The second slot is for savings. The third for sharing with others.

The Money Jar opens up a dialogue about sharing with others. You might encourage them to make a donation to a local charity or someone in need.

Finally, the Money Jar allows kids to set goals for their money. Kids have all kinds of financial goals. Maybe it’s a new Xbox, or saving for a school trip. Whatever the goal -- the Money Jar will help your kids develop smart saving habits for life.
